There is no sin so great that God cannot or will not forgive. Even if everyone holds that sin against us for the rest of our lives, God will not. The glorious truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that God remembers our sin no more and that He will never use it against us.
One of the greatest paradoxes in all of Scripture is that an omniscient Being forgets. Not only does He forget, He then goes about cleansing us of what caused sin in the first place. He not only takes care of the result of sin by the blood of Christ, but He also sets about curing the root as well.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
He turns the ugliness of our sin into His most excellent glory, which is the essence of the Cross of Jesus Christ.
The challenge in Christianity is to believe that the blood of Jesus Christ has the power to transform not only individuals but couples, along with friends and families and neighborhoods, redeeming nations, even the entire world. The promise of the power of the Cross is the transformation of the whole universe, both the seen and unseen.
Some would say this sounds too good to be true. But for me, it sounds too good not to be true.
